My 40g GSP BW tank!
Well, recently i joined to this puffer community and now is your time to know my tank, and beloved young GSP, they cannot stay in that tank for a long time, indeed I'm preparing their new home, a 256g tank with more salt hehehe almost marine (1.018 - 1.020).
But now i want to show mi tank:
Size:
40g Tank 80X45X45.
Parameters:
SG: 1.005 (1.004 Near the water change).
Tº: 25-26º
ph: 7.8-8.5
GH: 20-27 dHº
Kh: 9-12 dHº
Woods:
2 Mangrove Roots
5 Manzanilla Roots
1 Mopani Root
Stones:
7 calcite Withe Stones
2 Small withe Slate Stones
Plants:
Vallisneria Spliralis.
Taxiphyllum barbieri.
Hygrophilia Polisperma var. Rosanerving.
Limnophila Sessiliflora (i ve lost a lot of this plant cuz is not easy to adapt it to BW)
microsorum pteropus.
Najas Guadalupensis.
cryptocoryne becketii.
ceratophyllum demersum.
Fish:
2 Tetraodon Nigroviridis (3")
6 Poecilia Sphenops Full Black.
6 Parambassis Ranga
Also there was a couple of Crystal Shrimps:
4" a very big shrimps!!
And another couple of Knight Gobies:
But puffers Start to hunt them and tried to attack them 2 or 3 times, so i decide to move them to another tank, also BW.
They only are friendly with P.Sphenops and Rangas.
I own you some actualized pictures of the plants and fish i will try to take some photos when i go home ñ_ñ
Because these are old pictures, at least 45 days ago... And i remodeled the tank, so it is veerrryy different, every time i add more salt, plants grow slower, except vallisneria, cryptocoryne and Microsorum.
Tank you for watching!

Re: My 40g GSP BW tank!
That is an awesome tank set up man! Looks amazing! Where do you get those vines that you have in the back? And could you use like the bendy reptile ones?
Fahakas are like dogs! They come up to you and say hi! Or they're just looking for food!

Fantastic! Beautiful aquascaping!
Did I read that right that you're setting up a 256 gallon for your puffer?
That's relatively gigantic! Can't wait to see pics!

If you're getting a 256, you should consider a Fahaka...

Re: My 40g GSP BW tank!
Aww, but he can't put the gsp in with one of those guys. Also, he can make it full marine at some point for his gsp, and that's exciting! Marine tanks are magical. I'm still waiting for a mermaid hitchhiker, perhaps in this next batch of liverock...Reaperpilot2014 wrote:If you're getting a 256, you should consider a Fahaka...

Re: My 40g GSP BW tank!
hi Everybody!!!
So nice you like it! hehehe Thanks for watching!! Puffergie is so happy!
I hope to build the new tank for the end this year my GSP will be lost in that tank hahaha
Indeed i don't want to abandon these tank, i worked a lot to find these plants and vines, that are actually Roots of a tree called "Manzanilla" ¿you know it? its quite good for BW aquariums
I hope to use this tank for another kind of puffer that could live in a 1.005 SG, ¿which is the Red-Eye puffer? could it be possible to have a good number of Some puffers?
For the new tank i was tinkling about another kind of puffer to share with the GSP, but i don't know with kind could it be ok with 1.020-1.022?
Lineatus are adorable but extremely aggressive ¿don't they?
So i think a high Salt concentration (almost marine could be ok for GSP and another fish like brackish damselfish (Pomacentridae) and maybe a CowFish!!!
¿what do you Know about Lactoria Cornuta? I've heard they are good pacific giants....
Well, i still own you the new pics hahaha.... i know about taking pictures, but my camera is not so good hahaha, its a PowerShot...so... if you want to sell some reflex call me!! haha Some pics like the goby one, are a "lucky shot" a pic i never imagine to take

Re: My 40g GSP BW tank!
If you are keeping the tank as brackish 1.005, your option for that size of a tank would be likely only be the Figure 8 puffer. ug.php/v/PufferPedia/Brackish/T_Biocellatus/
But if you dropped the salinity down to freshwater, then the Red-Eye or dwarf puffers will work too.
Red eye: ug.php/v/PufferPedia/Freshwater/C_Irrubesco/
Dwarf: ug.php/v/PufferPedia/Freshwater/C_Travancoricus/
I wouldn't get a cowfish to go in with a puffer, as they can release a toxin into the water when stressed or upon death, and kill off your whole tank. They are really not very easy fish to keep in a hobby setting, beside their gigantic adult size, and probably one I would add on my "shouldn't be in the hobby at all, but they are so stupidly cute though" list. Damselfish *may* work, but be careful which one you select because they have a bad reputation of being mean as tarp. In the damselfish family, PP usually recommends the tomato clown. The ocellaris may be too wimpy or too aggressive, they vary, the maroon clowns are way too mean, and just about every damsel is fairly aggressive. There are some beautiful damsels that are known to be not so aggressive, but they are pretty expensive too. So if they get eaten, then it's kind of an expensive dinner.
Some people have had good luck with certain wrasses, but like puffers, they tend to carpet surf, so make sure your lid doesn't have any holes they can leap out of.
Can't wait for more pics, I can't believe you're using a point and shoot, they look like DSLR photos.

Manzanilla is a type of olive tree. I have several as bonsai! I didn't know that they could be put in aquariums, but it makes since being so heavy.
