I'm sorry PP this happened. We all know mistakes happen. Thankfully you didn't lose them all.

When you correct somebody on the care of their puffs, its to save a fishes life. I see no harm in being direct with help. That is why we are all here. To learn.

Dear Pufferpunk,

You're the idol of each and every pufferfun all around the world.
You're an expert of experts.
However, you're not a prophet.

Please think about the hundrets of cute puffers(/and others) you've been saving by your valuable effords.
I'm sure that there is no any other amateur ichthyologist serve for poor captives that much.

Thank you for being Pufferpunk.

Kind regards,

That's terrible! It brings back memories of when I bought a very sick tetra [without realizing it] and placed it in my tank, killing all of my fish except for my Dojo Loach... Including my beloved ElephantNose. ;-;

I know how you feel.

I'm afraid if I now try to restock that tank, Filbert won't take so kindly to his new tank mates.

I've actually done that, but thankfully it was on my discus tank and they weren't phased one bit, but I sure did get hysterical! Don't beat yourself up, things happen, you grieve and hopefully move on. You're a fantastic resource and more than know your stuff.

I'm still haunted by the act of pulling out the limp bodies of those old elephantnoses I was entrusted to care for & the large body of a full grown BGK.

Elephant noses are expensive too? That's too bad PP. I've done the opposite, but not quite that extreme. The temp was at 72.

I've frozen them too but no one died from that experience.

Dear PufferPunk, I've made some stupid mistakes myself and let me just say that reminding yourself of your mistake isn't going to do you any good. It just makes you feel horrible and it won't reverse what's happened. All you can do is keep going, at least you have survivors and that's a wonderful thing!

I had a faulty heater on my Fang's tank and turned it up one night because it was a bit cold in the tank, and forgot about it and next morning jolted myself out of bed when the thought hit me that I'd not turned the heater down! The poor puffers, it was like 90F or more in there! I immediately started doing a water change to get some of that hot water out, and replaced with cooler water. They seemed to come out of it okay though and now they are some very rotund little puffers!

Anyway, you've given some really good advice PP and I say, "thank you" for all your help and inspiration! :D

Really sorry to hear that speck505. I'm with you on the crying though, when my Congo was killed because she got in with my Baileyi, I cried for a couple days thinking about her, so I understand completely how you felt. :(
