Meet Master Yoda (Young Fahaka)
Greeting to all on the Puffer forum. My name is Mathijn, I'm from the Netherlands and since 3 weeks I made a new friend. His name is Master Yoda... yes not just Yoda... but Master! Yoda hehe.
Master Yoda is a little Fahaka. He was just about 3 inches (anybody that can estimate the age for that length?) when I got him and needed about a week to recover from his journey to his new tank (It was an hour of driving on a very hot day). His colors has changed after that to a happy green and when he is hunting little mosquito larva he already shows a little of the stripes he will get when he becomes an adult.
He's very cute and fun to observe. Always comes out of his hide out when I come home and will start swimming back and forth to get my attention that he is hungry. After eating his little belly all round he will relax for a while completely buried in the sand and after a few hours he will start searching for some larva that buried themselves by blowing over sand.
Here are some picture that I know you will all enjoy.
Greetings from me and my Fahaka.
The tank (570 litres) when I started puttin plants in. It looks a bit more full now as I placed some Valesneria in the middle to cut the view from one side to another.
Master Yoda after just arriving in his new home. A little stressed
Still recovering....
Finally checking out the neighborhood
a little movie of eating his first earthworm for dinner
<object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/HOU0a660PGc&hl ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/HOU0a660PGc&hl=nl&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>[/youtube]
Say cheese!
Blowing over sand looking for a midnight snack
Another vid of Master Yoda going all shy for the camera

3 weeks later
Dinner time with the other 2 inhabitors..... Lets see how long before they will be on the menu, lol
Hope you enjoyed it. More pics will surely follow once he gets older and bigger.

Great 1st post! Although your pics are a bit large to fit on my computer screen, the Master looks like he has a fantastic home!

Re: Meet Master Yoda (baby Fahaka)
Oh yeah sorry about that lol. I have a 24" widescreen monitor to tend to forget there are people with smaller ones . Will have a look at resizing them when I am home since I don't have access to my ftp from work.
The other fish in the last picture are indeed a (i think male) cosby-gourami. I have a female one aswell... only she did not feel hungry at the time. The other one next to Master Yoda is not a catfish but an Ancistrus (a algae eater).

Re: Meet Master Yoda (baby Fahaka)
I'm glad you said something because I was thinking that earlier when I had a look. I don't imagine Master Yoda will tolerate them for very long, especially once he starts growing a bit!

awwww what an awesome, adorable little puffer. I love your tank setup, Master Yoda has quite the home. Well nice to meet you and welcome to the forum.
"Okay. You! Out of the Gene Pool!"- Don't know who said it but I enjoy using it
I'm learning that puffer fish are like pringles. There is no such thing as only wanting one.
Tanks:
38 gallon: 1 Figure 8 puffer, 1 Dragon Goby, 1 Knight Goby, 3 Black Mollies
30 gallon: 1 Blue Acara, 1 Bristlenose Pleco
120 gallon: Ratchet the Fahaka Puffer

Re: Meet Master Yoda (baby Fahaka)
Yeah I was already thinkin of taking the other ones out this week. I knew puffers need to be alone but when my tank was still in his 2 weeks cycle to farm bacteria I just could not help myself to throw something living in it for the time being. So they were already in there before Master Yoda came.
The gourami are still being left alone... altho the female has lost half of one of her antennas but he already started attacking the algae eater who now has some bites out his tailfin.
Will call a friend of mine who will probably adopt them. Because it would be sad to relocate them in my little 25litre snailfarm. That's just to small.
Here are 2 more pictures I took today

Re: Meet Master Yoda (baby Fahaka)
Yeah resized the big ones If you look close at that midnight snack photo you can see a blurry spot. That's the sand shooting up from him blowing
here is another (close up) picture of the algue eater. I noticed he changes colors now and then... might be linked to him being hunted down by my puffer. You can already see the damage. Poor thing
