Tapping noise in my marine tank

Post by bertie 83 »

This is bizarre, I have a tapping noise coming from an inhabitant of my tank, I have checked all equipment. I understand this could be a mantis shrimp or pistol shrimp but could anything else cause this? I have a red light coming hopefully tomorrow so I can look around long after lights out when I get home from work. Lets say it is a mantis how do you extract it from a tank with close to 100kg of rock in? How bad are they? Could I out box it lol?
It's amazing how easy maintenance is. If done regularly and thoroughly

There are shrimp traps out there.
You are getting sleepy... you only hear the sound of my voice... you must do water changes... water changes... water changes... water changes...

Holy crap, I've heard of mantis shrimp but had no idea why they were so potentially dangerous.

Manny managed to get out of the refugium and survived the pump and ended up in the display tank some months ago. I haven't bothered trying to remove him. All the hermits are still accounted for and so are the fish .

Admittedly Manny is only 4~5cm :P and won't be growing much more if at all.
