well right now all that is in it is the bio wheel and filter media that came with the hood. Also i looked the aquarium is clear but still kinda milky today. So any suggestion on filter media. I also have sand and i think that is the culprit.

Watch it very, very closely, because it will overflow, but stuff some polyester batting in the hood where the filter pad goes, it will polish the water, but it will also clog and overflow in about 15 minutes, so monitor closely and rinse often. When the water is clear, just remove it.

Re: My new 37 gallon brackish setup tell me what you think
I have a fliter in my old 20 gallon that works awesome. Its just a whisper filter but it cleans the twenty gallon to make it crystal clear over night so i think im gonna clean it and put a new bag in it and try it out to see if it helps.
I will post more pictures and water tests in a few hours.

So here is the tank... Tell me what you think i added the extra filter about twenty minutes ago to see if it helps. Also here are the parameters it is still cycling so everything is a little high.
Salinity 1.013
Nitrate 0
Nitrite 0.25 ppm
Ammonia 0.50 ppm
Ph 8.2
I dont know why the PH is high either it was at 7.6 yesterday???

You should be fishless cycling with straight ammonia. You can buy it at places like Ace hardware.
Anyway, some GSPs do fine with leather corals because they taste bad. Liverock would benefit you more in the long run.

Do a water change. Water changes don't affect your cycle, at all. Get some filter floss or something and that will help. Rinse your filter cartridge in de-chlorinated water, too, to get the cloudy water stuff off it.

Re: My new 37 gallon brackish setup tell me what you think
As much as you like. However, I have found that anytime I shut my filter off for a change, I get a mini cycle. So, what I do is several small water changes so I don't have to shut my filter off and deal with a mini cycle. So, drain your water as low as you can without your filter stopping, and then refill with de-chlorinated water, and repeat.

Never had that happen in all of my 37 years of doing 50-90% weekly WC.
You are getting sleepy... you only hear the sound of my voice... you must do water changes... water changes... water changes... water changes...

And I have never heard it happening to anyone else, but it always happens to me. It is very troublesome.Pufferpunk wrote:Never had that happen in all of my 37 years of doing 50-90% weekly WC.
