aquascaping puffer tank

Post by pbrfan »

Once Petey is in a full marine environment (just got him yesterday and he was in freshwater at the store) can I add other reef type stuff to the tank? corals? anenomes? My idea is a reef tank with the only fish being my green spotted puffer. Can that be done?
15 gallon community tank with platys, guppies, otos and corys
betta in betta tank
Petey the puffer in his own tank
Horace Hunley the turtle in his tank with all my excess guppy fry
Bailey the cat
Ace the dog
lots n lots of barn cats

It depends on your puffer. Many reef creatures will be eaten, but others will also be left alone, how big each group is and what each includes is going to be up to your puffer. I'm trying that with Shakespeare myself, who is already at full marine and has his own protein skimmer and about 10 pounds of live rock. The most recent piece was fully cured and is over 5 pounds, it seems the worms it used to have have vanished tho... I'm going to try some inexpensive mushrooms soon.

that gonna be interesting to see what happens Nick

Shame that no two puffers are the same though as we could use your findings to help others. I guess its the old "suck it and see" method

my GFs petco has this beautiful LR frag with pretty red mushrooms all over it for 26.95, I think I'm trying it soon.

i have a starry puffer in with some scavenger shrimp and he hasn't touched any of them same with the snails, i am contemplating trying a frag off a leather i took in my other tank to see what he does.

its all trial and error with these sorts of things though
