The gap was just from the coverglass, to let some air in. Usually i have a hood on the tank but its summer here and the tanks been heating up a bit.

I didnt think that any of my fish could jump!

No it wasnt puffed, and he didnt puff when we put him back in the tank. ive heard that if they puff out of water they can die, so im glad he didnt puff.

it was sort of more like a flapping and gasping i guess. i didnt hear it and he was in a state of panic when he was describing it to me!
maybe he tried to puff but he couldnt because he wasnt in water.

They can die if they puff up with air but I have heard of them dying before from puffing in water too and not being able to deflate. I guess its just not good for them to puff in general, although I have seen mine puff sometimes for no reason that I can see. But of course I really dont know what he is feeling!

I thought mine was going to puff up today because the chromis that is in his tank, has been chasing him a bit and seems to be nipping him! The chromis is about 1/4 of his size but he still just runs and hides! Its very strange! I thought he would stand up for himself!
