Will a Blue Spotted Puffer nip on a Red Ball Sponge?

Post by poovy »

I am getting a Blue Spotted Puffer today. The tank currently houses lots of live rock, maiden's hair, Halimeda, 4 small damsels, 2 peppermint shrimp, some snails, and a red ball sponge.

I am aware the Puffer will make a meal of the shrimp and snails, but will it bother the sponge?

When you say a blue spotted puffer, do you mean a sharpnose puffer like C. Solandri? If you do, be careful with your other fish... most tobies are fin nippers. I keep my fingerprint toby in a tank by himself (he doesn't play nice with tank mates). The shrimp will probably be in trouble, but I'm not sure if he'll go after the sponge.
