Food and finding it

Post by Slimneo23 »

I'm very limited to what I can get in my area as far as food goes to my puffers. I'd really like to get some things to aid in the teeth trimming. Clams being my first choice. I really am having a tough time finding them. Something like clams in a half shell. Can anyone help me out?

Also, are freshwater clams ok.

I have 3 puffers.
Porcupine
Dogface
Manilla

And they are babies. 5 inches

Our local Walmart has a lot of shrimp. And I have fed him that. But that's it. Maybe some crab. I live in the upper peninsula of Michigan. There's just not much here.

You could try breeding your own snails for them. You can buy ramshorn snails and pond snails on ebay

I have a Snail tank going well. I'd like to have more variety. Id really like to try crayfish and clams. Are freshwater clams ok to eat?

Better off buying frozen or freezing the live ones.
