Porcupine in a 100gal?
Porcupine in a 100gal?
Hi everybody. I just wanted to hear your opinions. Would a porcupine puffer be happy in a 100gal if it is the only fish in the tank with lots of filtration?
I would have loved to go bigger but sadly I don't have the space.

Hey Sterling, They need a minimum of 120 us gallons. When you say you don't have the space do you mean from left to right? If you get a 4ft x2ft x2ft that size tank is 120 us gallons.

100g tank does not hold 100g of water. Would there be a sump?
You are getting sleepy... you only hear the sound of my voice... you must do water changes... water changes... water changes... water changes...

And a heavy duty skimmer.

Yes there is a 20gal sump under the tank and a relatively good skimmer. There will also be lots of live rock. I already have the tank and it won't be possible to exchange it for another, budget wont allow.

I think it may be OK, as long as he is kept by himself & you are aware you will have to keep up with larger water changes.

Or consider a Burrfish, or a trio of GSP's or a couple Ceylon Puffers.

Re: Porcupine in a 100gal?
I was just about to ask what are my alternatives. I have 2 GSPs in a 4ft with 4 mollies, have been together for 5 months and doing great, they are about 3.5" big

Hi was wondering if this guy could work? Amblyrhynchotes honckenii or a dog faced puffer?
