new to puffers.

Post by puffer40 »

hello,

i am glad to anounce that i have my first puffer. he is a saddleback valentini puffer. i picked him up at my lfs yesturday in pritty good condition except that he is skinny. as of right now he is in my 15g qt. i have mysis, frozen squid, and rods food to feed him. i plan to feed two medium sized meals a day untill he gets some meat on his bones. after he is done with the qt he will be introduced to my 40g fowlr with a variaty of marine fish. is ther any food that is recomended to help with the teeth growing? but besides that i look foward to talking about thes cool fish and the hobbie its self. :D

ther is curently a snowflake eel, trigger fish, and a pair of clowns in the tank. the eel and trigger are quite small and i am curently building them a larger tank. i thought the puffer would go good with that size tank and the clowns because they get mean if a fish goes in ther corner so i want something that can hold its own. the puffer is doing good right now. he takes the mysis over the squid and do you think algea sheets are good enough to take care of the veggie part of the diet?

What species of trigger? Most are extremely aggressive!

well actually i worry about him not getting enough food. if ther is one thing the trigger is agresive to its food. if i see that ther is a problem when i put him into the dt i will haft to get creative and figure it out.

update:i put my puffer in the main tank 3 days ago and so far all he has done except for the first day is lay on the ground. the first day he was fine but then started laying around moving spots every now and then. i tried to feed him but he wouldent eat. its been a few days sence he has eaten so i am kinda worried, ther is nothing wrong with my water so im stumped. he was doing so well in the qt.

My guess is he's scared of the other fish.
