Canthigaster Jactator
Canthigaster Jactator
Hi I have recently started a 40 gallon saltwater tank. I got 70 lb of cured live rock from a guy on CL who was taking down his reef tank. I currently have 2 peppermint shrimp, 1 blue legged hermit crab, 2 red legged hermit crabs, 3 nerite snails, and 2 dwarf cerith snails. Would my tank be big enough for a canthigaster jactator? Would any other species of toby be ok in addition to the jactator, maybe a valentini? I've had the tank running for 5-6 weeks now with ammonia 0, nitrite 0, and nitrates 0-10. Thanks in advance for replies.

Re: Canthigaster Jactator
I've kept various tobies in a 40 gallon for years; it's plenty of room for one. They're territorial, though, and will most likely attack each other. One toby per tank.
A toby might try to eat your shrimp and snails, though. All of mine loved live shrimp.
