When using finquil with a saltwater fish, do I add it to salt or freshwater? The directions only say add to water. What do you guys do when trimming your puffs teeth?
Also my vet agreed to let me video tape and take pictures. I'm excited and nervous Friday. The tumor is continuing to grow. I can't wait to get that thing off him. Hoping for the best.

Re: puffer surgery
Use your tank water
It's amazing how easy maintenance is. If done regularly and thoroughly

Re: puffer surgery
And be sure to have another bucket with tank water & NO meds ready at the correct temp, to wake the fish up in. Kelly Jedlicki has more info on this procedure. Her dentistry article may be of some help. http://www.wetwebmedia.com/ca/volume_2/ ... uffer2.htm

Re: puffer surgery
Yep I do. I'm bringing a tote with Juke and a heater. N two other smaller containers to transfer and treat the water. Thank you for the advice, this is a first. Juke hasn't had any health problems since I've had him. N this is a pretty big one. Hopefully Dr. Tony can tell me why this happend. A tumor would be genetic wouldn't it?

Re: puffer surgery
And how do I place him in the anesthesia bath? It's not quite clear in the article. Do I scoop him up in the small container then treat the water, or treat one container and move him into it somehow? I will figure something out just not sure if someone has a perfected method. And I also read something you wrote about mixing it with baking soda, is that something I should do?

You can add it to the tank he's in & stir.
