Puffers do the majority of their growing pre maturity. Anyone who says otherwise is talking out their botty. Generally speaking of course.

What is the reason for not getting any more fish until ive upgraded? Agression? water quality? territoriality? Just want to understand why.

Water quality is key. If you are upgrading anyway it seems silly to put more fish through tank changes.

I just did that... He's a 4 inch puffer in 210 gal by himself.... and he looks very healthy. Have also been told by other mappa puffer owners that they do not grow that fast.
When did you upgrade and from what size tank was he in before upgrade?

The fish I was thinking of adding to the 400 gall are:

Scribbled Angel
Blue line angel
Dussumieri tang
Mitratus or semilavartus butterfly
I have a 4 & 1/2 inch mappa, who is housed with a blue line angel, a juvenile dussumieri tang, semilavartis butterfly, harlequin tuskfish; he is fine with all of them. My mappa is very docile, and mostly hides in the caves in the live rock and comes out to beg/eat. I think part of it though is that he was tiny (<2inches) when we first put him in the tank with the larger fish as the last addition.
