fahaka and a large albino pleco
fahaka and a large albino pleco
Just wondering.. I'm looking at buying a fahaka puffer and they said he's really mean I was wondering if he would be able to be housed with my 12 inch albino pleco seeming his size and armor would he still be fish food

I have known a 4" fahaka to bite a 12" pleco in half.

Re: fahaka and a large albino pleco
When my fahaka was a couple inches long he attacked a 12"++ plec. Their armour is useless against the jaw and teeth of a fahaka
It's amazing how easy maintenance is. If done regularly and thoroughly

+1 to both the above comments. Fahakas and suckermouth cats are incompatible.

I had a plecy in with a mbu and the plecy got very territorial and sucked a round circle of skin off the mbu. The Mbu died not long after.

Always the potential for something bad to happen. I know an owner of a larger Mbu who has plecos in with it. He lost an occasional pleco just because the Mbu was feeding and accidentally chomped a pleco that came out to munch on the puffers food. This puffer is not aggressive toward small tankmates at all but the pleco was just in the wrong place at the time.

Re: fahaka and a large albino pleco
When a large puffer is hungry, food is food. My T. mbu lived with a large African catfish for three years, then I came home one day and found nothing left of the cat but the pectoral girdle with those big pectoral spines. The T. mbu was quite plump and lethargic. I learned my lesson too late, but I did learn...
