Planning a new tank!

Hey there!

I'm getting my Fahaka puffer a new tank and I found a rather cheap 750L tank, with the measurements 1mX1mX75cm (LxDxH).
Would that be sufficent for an adult fahaka? I would personally prefer a tank that's somewhat longer but then again, this tank has a pretty wicked footprint so there should be plenty of room.

Whatcha think?

I would say no. Not long enough for a fahaka to swim lengths

At first I thought wow awesome. Then I realised it's only twice the length of the fish. This would make an ace grow out tank for a juvi, so long as he was removed before substantial length was obtained. Or would be amazing to setup for some smaller puffers.

You certainly can lol. May be tough to keep an eye on them with a tank that depth. I was thinking 10 bbg and 5 f8 puffs

Thanks for the replies!

Hadla, I'll be sure to use feet/inches and gallons from now on. ;)

Bertie, Yeah the length I what bothers me with this tank as well. I would love to have my fahaka swimming in a 6'-7' tank but I haven't got the room for one. The longest tank I would be able to fit in my apartment is a 5 footer. I thought I'd ask for some advice here to see if a Fahaka would be able to thrive in the tank I found due to the footprint even though it's lacking in length!

Hehe, the idea of having a swarm of dp's in that tank is well worth considering. :D

Oh, I forgot to ask. What would you say is the minimum length for a fahaka tank?

A 5 foot will do. You will find yourself wanting bigger though

lol, i just walked up to my dp tank and theyre all at the front staring at me. can you imagine having like 20 or more of them just staring at you when you walk up to the tank? its too cute for words!

I gotta get me some dps! :D They seem adoreable!

I found another plausible tank with the measurements 200cmX70cmX35cm (that's 80inc 28inc 14inc for you hadla ;) )
Would this be any good or will he be sorta cramped in such a shallow tank?

The dimension looks rather interesting! Footprint might look great but do consider that when u do a 50% wc, theres not much water left in there (height).. Mine gets jumpy when it freaks out that the water is getting too low..

I do multiple smaller changes on mine, 3x 30% weekly. If you are happy to do that then go for it

I didn't even think of that, oddly enough! Hehe. I prefer doing several small waterchanges anyhow so that wouldn't be much of a problem I guess!
