I almost bought the expensive fahaka online, but today I found 2 fahaka at my LFS for $20 each! I bought one and here's my new champ :)

The pic was taken while he was still at the store. He's going to go straight into my 30g tub for observation/quarantine.

My 120g has nothing but water in it. All my equipment is set and fully cycled. I still have a lot of work to do.

This little 2 incher is skinny. I'm trying to teach him eating dead food. He nibbled on a raw shrimp today. I'll soak in prazipro when he starts taking bites. This should be easier than training a congo to accept dead food.

No names yet. Im trying to get to know him before naming. I spent the last 30mins getting him to eat another raw shrimp. He tore off all the legs this time :) im going to try cutting one end of tomorrows prawn to create little tentacles for him.

Do you guys think sand is really important? Im thinking about bare bottom to help cleaning. Siphoning doesnt always pick up every thing.

Mine is still burring in the sand and its about 8 inches. I think she fills safer when covered in sand.

what do you mean bare ? like no substrate?

Absolutely, you want some kind of substrate. Not only does substrate hold a lot of biological bacteria, is it not natural for the puffer to see it's reflection below itself & possibly think it is a predator coming up at it.
