Ceylon puffer tank size

Post by Tom63 »

Hello, i'm looking in to the possibility of getting a ceylon puffer for a spare 40 gallon tank I have. I've read about a lot and it seems 40 gallon is generally considered fine as a minimum tank size, I'm just a little unsure wether the dimensions would be okay for one as it's 48" long, 16" tall but only 12" wide. Do you think this tank would be suitable? Thanks.

That size is OK but whenever you get that fish up to marine & add live rock, it may get a little more cramped.

You can "uncramp" that space easily by setting up a large sump and moving some of your LR into it. Something to keep in mind for when you make the trip down marine lane.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing Pufferpunk. I think I'm going to get a blue spotted toby instead.

You should also check out a valentini. I love mine. It always swims up to greet me every time I walk by.

Are Ceylon full marine or brackish?

I think it would prefer a 55g though.
