Need advice on crustaceans

Post by Wake »

I've got two GSPs that are almost 2".

I want to buy feeder crabs and crayfish for them, but I need them to be small, and I can't for the life of me find any place that sells the right kind of crustaceans for them.

Could anyone please tell me what are some good crab and crayfish species that are good to feed these 2" GSPs, and where to buy them online? I need some help badly. :)

For that small its easier to stick with breeding snails (pond and ramshorn) and for a chase gutloaded ghost shrimp. With mine at 3"-3.5" now i still have an issue getting small enough crayfish and have to clean up what is left over. If you have a the room you could setup a marbled crayfish tank. They breed readily and asexually. This is ideal as you are 100% sure to be parasite free and you can control what the crays are fed. Pick the small ones out to feed to your guys and if you have too many you can try to sell them to an lfs or wait for them to get bigger and do a crawfish boil. I have already got the materials to setup a marbled cray tank but am in the process of dry stating a new dp tank and don't have the room yet. Can't wait.

True, I've tried that.

The voracious little s***s go through them so quickly.

Hell, I pinched a cricket by its leg over the water and Larry jumped up and grabbed the poor b*****d by his head and dragged him down. It was like Deep Blue Sea all up in there.
