Pure personal choice item, but my favorite small puffer (both GSP and F-8 are in that category, but the GSP is only barely so) is the F-8. I have kept literally dozens of them. Totally charming fish and easy to keep post QT if you maintain the tank at all well.

Also, I would not keep a GSP in a 30. I do not do "minimum" tanks. I might grow out a young GSP in a 40-long, but would more likely do a 55 or 75 as both grow-out and permanent home.

ALL IMHO, YMMV.
