(Not so) New 29 gallon
So my 29 gallon is now ready for my figure 8's I plan to get. Before I get them I have a couple of questions. I had three dalmation mollies in the tank to start as I was slowly converting it to brackish. There are now 3 babies.
-How big do the babies have to be before the puffers won't try to eat them
-Is 6 mollies and 2 fg8's too much, would 6 mollies and 1fg8 be better
here is a picture of the tank, just to show it off

Re: New 29 gallon
Ummm, probably one f8. How big will your f8 be when you get it? The mollies will probably grow much faster than the puffer.
"I will give you a talisman. Whenever you are in doubt, or when the self becomes too much with you, apply the following test. Recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man whom you may have seen, and ask yourself, if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him or her. Will she gain anything by it? Will it restore her to a control over her own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to freedom for the hungry and spiritually starving millions? Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away."

Re: New 29 gallon
thanks everyone, turns out I'll have to wait one more week for the f8 anyway the lfs is out but has them on order.
Other question is do I have room to add any other fish like gobies or with 6 mollies and the f8 is that pretty much maxed out?
The filter I have (an emperor 200b) filters 280gph so I am just under the 10x per hour, and I don't want to risk overstocking.

Re: New 29 gallon
So I plan on picking up my f8 tomorrow, hopefully the baby mollies are big enough now, they have grown quite a bit.
One last question, do I need to have some form of aeration in the tank? I have a couple of old bubble wands sitting around. Are they necessary or will I be alright? I personally don't really like the looks of the bubbles.

Re: New 29 gallon
You don't need the bubbles, your filter should provide enough aeration. If you notice anyone gasping for air, you might want to think about it, but, I think you will be perfectly fine. Nice tank BTW. Watch them mollies for any fin nipping.... Yay for F 8's

Re: New 29 gallon
Considering mollies have potential to grow up to 6" long, I don't think I'd keep them in a 29 gallon tank, myself. I'm notorious for understocking though. Watch their breeding, too many babies and water conditions are going to start to get out of control. Puffers can't handle high nitrates.
You probably won't want the bubbles with brackish anyways, they kick up salt spray all over everything.
I love the little turtle.. looks so sweet in the sand!

Re: New 29 gallon
Myaj thanks for the concern, I also do not want to end up overstocking the tank and I don't plan on adding any other fish. 6 mollies and the f8 should be plenty enough, hopefully not too much. They actually had more babies yesterday but I transitioned the babies to fresh water and put them in another one of my tanks. Once they get big enough that I think they will be fine, I am going to try to find them a good home. Anyone in the IL area want 3 dalmatian mollies?
Anyway here are some pictures of the f8 when I got it.
it has some pretty cool markings
So anyway, it doesn't seem to like bloodworms but is eating snails and brine shrimp. Any suggestions for coaxing it into eating the bloodworms?
