50 gallon GSP stocking

Post by erikgriz »

I am currently doing a fish less cycle on a 50 gallon tank. I have plenty of time before I get my GSP's, but how many can I put in this tank? I am planning on lots of rocks making caves, and lots of fake plants. Any help is appreciated!

Too small how? We're the water parameters difficult? Did the become excessively territorial? Thanks for the help!

If you plan on going fully saltwater (which I recommend) I'd keep it to a singleton. You'll need to the added space for live rock. I have mine in a 40 long ( same footprint as a 55 just shorter) full salt and I think he'll only be happy in there another year or so.

They get quite large and need swimming room as they are quite active. I agree 75g minimum but bigger is better for a pair
It's amazing how easy maintenance is. If done regularly and thoroughly

Got it. The more I read, the more I am thinking about f8's. I would like it a little more full than a loner. From what I read, I could start with 4 juvies. I may go this route. Thanks so much for all the advice. I am glad this fishless cycling takes a while, I'm avoiding bonehead mistakes! Great forum!
