Is a 35liter tank big enough for 3 dwarf puffers?

Post by Jano »

Hi guys! Went to the pet store about 2 months go and saw that they had puffers available. Was love at first sight! So I started doing research on them and the more I read the more I want them.

Ive started preparing my tank to house the puffers, but ive got a couple of questions, and I hope you guys can help me out. Ive got a 35liter tank with 2 white clouds, 2 tetra glowlights and 2 guppies. Is this big enough for 3 dwarf puffers? 2nd question is it fine if use fake plants instead of real plants?

Are you removing the fish that are in there now? If yes, then I think they'd be OK, if the ratio is 1M-3F or 3F. Fake plants are OK.

I personally wouldn't do 3. It's less than 10 gallons, I would get a pair of females and have a stress free tank. Welcome to the forum
It's amazing how easy maintenance is. If done regularly and thoroughly

You are also going to want a ton of decorations (fake plants, stones, etc.) to break line of sight if you get more than 1. The more the better. Don't worry about not being able to find your DPs due to dense planting (fake or real)...they will find you. You'll probably end up searching the tank for them just to find them like 4" from your face staring at you begging for a meal.
