dp can't seem to aim straight and misses out on feeding.
Hi. I've been adding fish to my dwarf puffer tank giving each new fish about 2 weeks quarantine. My oldest dwarf puffer has seemed to have got skinny and has lost coordination. This fish can't seem to get any food and I've tried live Whiteworms now and she keeps on missing the worm and fails lo eat anything. The parameters are fine. The other fish are otos and an anciststrus. Is this some kind of disease or is it just one of those things. Maybe an eyesight problem? I've kept dp's for about 4 years now without a loss. Any help please.

Otos often carry IPs. I'd treat everyone.

Really? Even after 2 weeks quarantine. Blimey! i'll pop down the shop then. You say an internal parasite?
Cheers for that.

How do the otos look? Fat belly or concave?

Re: dp can't seem to aim straight and misses out on feeding.
She was about 3 years old.
I had a Betta fish originally in my quarantine tank and moved him in to my main tank but contained in a floating nursery. The Betta fish became lethargic after a week so put him back in the quarantine tank with the new ancistrus. When the two weeks was up the ancistrus was put in the main tank and the Betta had her tank back. That was when my dp went downhill a few days later. After blowing a load of bubbles on the surface of the water, the male Betta became more listless and then died yesterday. I lost two top fish in 24 hours.
The mystery with the Betta is that I'm not sure if it was a parasite or whether another problem.
I read yesterday that after a male Betta blows a load of bubbles on the surface for a potential female, the male fish can become depressed if housed alone. They can become so depressed that they can die. I thought male Bettas preferred to be alone but alas I was wrong. So I'm not sure if this fish died through loneliness or a parasite. The fish did spend time on the bottom and then the top of the tank which suggests health problems.
I'm carrying out the treatment for the parasite in the quarantine tank and main tank to ensure all parasites are gone.
It does look as though my Betta may have died of loneliness. How sad.

It seems to be a sad story. I've lost two dps, one oto, one L204 plec and my blue Betta. Getting bonkers now.
I've been through the esha Flukeworm and tapeworm cycle and now on to esha ndx anti nematode.
There's no sign of anything wrong when they die. :/
