the library says 4 inches but on all the videos they look bigger

Try Aquabid. Color is determined by surroundings, they camouflage to match. If you're looking to stay FW, forget a GSP.

So black sand or eco complete. Will it get so dark theres no red?. Ive seen dark ones in white sand with dark colors so wasnt sure

Maybe a mix? Salt & pepper sand? Actually, they don't burrow, so gravel is fine, too.
