Hello
Today marks the two week point for our 37 gallon tank, home to one puffer, Opie, three live plants (a moss ball, an amazon sword, and one I don’t know the name of).
We’ve been doing daily water changes religiously, ammonia levels have been at .25-.50 ppm. We turkey baste the waste out with each water change and add a capful of prime with each change.
Yesterday spiked to 1ppm, we did a 50% change immediately and as expected it came down to .5ppm post water change.
pH is 7.8, nitrites are 0 still, didn’t check for nitrates based on that....
Opie is acting fine, just wondering if we’re on par for a tank our size and what else we can do? We started with the Safe-Start stuff but that didn’t seem to help.
Filter is a AquaClear 70
Thanks!

IDK why the Safestart didn't work. Did you add it to your filter?
You are getting sleepy... you only hear the sound of my voice... you must do water changes... water changes... water changes... water changes...

The water changes could be slowing the process down. If you can safely increase the temperature in the tank, that should speed things up.
