Great shot! What's that white mark on his cheek?

We’re not sure- it appeared shortly after we got him, we think maybe a heater burn?

I noticed in one of the videos the heater was positioned very low to the gravel. Likely the little guy was just thinking it was something to hide under and explore and got burned. I would move that up off the substrate a bit so he wont burn himself again. You could also look to make or buy a heater guard but I think just moving the heater up will solve the problem.

Good idea. We actually rearranged his tank today when we did a water change and I pushed the heater down towards the bottom, behind a fake plant. He doesn’t go back there so it’s much better in this new location.
