The peice of base rock to the left may raise your ph to an unheathly level for him. Make sure to keep an eye of my ph with that in there and adjust if nessesary.

The white coral piece? It’s artificial, the pH yesterday was 7.6, I’ll check it again now.

Nevermind I looked it up in the pedia, says between 6-7.8, any recommendations on how to lower it?

I know there are ph lowering products but I dont know the effectiveness. Someone else may be able to shine some light on this.

Thank you, I'll continue to monitor it to make sure it doesn't go higher than 8. I feel that once we do our first water change this week it'll help also. His behavior and feeding are normal.

PH is really one of those things I dont like to mess with. Before you do your water change you might just take a sample down to a fish store and have them test it for you to make sure.

I have real wood in my tanks and I find it has a natural tendency to lower my PH. With that tall tank of yours it might be cool to get a tall branchy piece of real wood in there.

I'll look into using the pH balance product they sell in the store. My concern about real wood in the tank is discoloration from the tannins.

Tannins dont hurt anything and do go away...

Hmm maybe I'll put a piece in then, especially since it will help lower the pH, I'll see what I can find. I was hoping maybe the moss ball could help with the pH a little too but it's just a tiny moss ball.

TBh, unless it gets higher, FORGETTABOUTIT

Ph is less important than stable ph. Unless we're talking extremes, your PH level is not vital (excluding certain species, and even then it does not affect health in a massive way). My advice; 1. forget it, 2. put some driftwood (temporary, ph will recover after all tannins leached out...though this may take some time.

Thank you for the advice!! I'm going to monitor the water closely (we have a notebook we've been keeping to trend the values for pH, KH, NH3, etc..
