Puffer ID please.

Post by 12345 »

Sorry guys, I know this is a repist as I had previously posted in the wrong section.

I picked up a new puffer.

All settled in and eating well.

I believe that it is a Fang's Puffer. But it also looks a little like a GSP.

Can anyone please verify for me.

Thank guys!

Thank you so much for the reply pufferpunk!

It was sold to me as a Fang's. Not surprised that fish stores mislabel them. I am so glad you corrected me/them.

Does anyone know what his staple diet should consist of?

I have half shell clams and snails for him. I read that Fang's staple diet are snails.

Any suggestions on Brown Puffers?

Heh, I'm terrible at ID on these spotted FW puffers... Could possible be a Fang's, IDK for sure.

Well when comparing the pictures, it surely does resemble a Brown puffer instead of a Fang's though. Although it's a difference of 3inches (Fang's) to 6inches (Brown). Which is great :)

I think you are right.

But either way, apart from the the usual snails and half shelled goodies. Any other specific feeding needs required for a Brown Puffer?
