Is this an Abei puffer?

Post by SilasMortimer »

I just bought a puffer that my LFS happened to be carrying. What they had written on the tank was "red eye 'tribal' puffer", but as you can see from the video, it seems a little too large for that. I had first seen it a week before I bought it and the employee I first spoke to agreed that it was surprisingly large for what it was called and said he'd call the distributor to ask for the scientific name, but I've yet to reach him again. When I went back to make the purchase, they said they also had some Abei puffers, but that they were sold out. However in my estimation the puffer I got is in fact more likely an Abei than any of the so-called "red-eyes".

If you guys wouldn't mind taking a look at the video I shot and giving me your opinion, I sure would appreciate it. (Regardless of which it is, I'm really happy I was able to get it.)
