The article on pufferpedia T. fluviatilis states:
"Care: Try to initially introduce T. fluviatilis to an aquarium with a salinity matching that of the store tank. Slowly raise the salinity to marine levels by a maximum of DG=0.02 / week. These are active, larger puffers that do best in 40 gallon or larger tan"
and the article on T. nigroviridis states:
"Requires medium to high-end brackish water, and usually thrives in marine conditions. Introduce to a fully cycled aquarium, and raise the specific gravity by at least 0.02 per week, aiming for 1.015."
However in threads you recommend: 0.002 per week, e.g.:

I don't mean to be pedantic.
Question: Why 0.002 per week? Literature reference and/or personal experience? I used to do 0.001 a day and had no negative results (have to admit I put in filter material from long running tanks after the daily waterchange).

Recommendation is usually NO MORE than .002 to prevent killing the fw bacteria before the sw bacteria can start propagating I believe.
