Donations and Status??

Post by purplecandle »

Did not know where to put this question so move it if you like!

I am on another website that takes in donations to keep the site running..just like here..

But what they do is, if you donate 10 dollars a year OR 10 dollars a month you get a new status

Here it is your posts that give you status, which I think we should keep....but we could have our user id colored to signify that we donate..

Here is their rules about the statuses and the perks that come with donating
http://www.guineapigcages.com/forum/pol ... post218616

I figure since you are re-doing things anyway, this would be a good way to get people to donate..

We could still use the puffer system for out statuses..but if we donate..our ID's could be colored..

Just a thought!

Most of the other sites I frequent have the option to become a supporting member. One has the tiered options ($25-50-100) per year but most just have a flat rate, so much for 6 months and so much per year. Most just have a banner or star by the username showing that you're a supporting member.

I like how on The Planted Tank if you donate you can put whatever you want as your status thing.

We really could use those donations, as since our recent issues with the forum, we may have to move to a different, much more $$$ server. So please send those dollars along... ;)

There is a link with information about donating up top, under the "Support" tab.

We have discussed adding a "group" that will show people are donating members, but we don't have a record of ALL the people who have donated in the past and felt it might be kind of rude to exclude them. It is something that is very quick and easy to add though, its just that we couldn't recognize people who donated in the past unless we happened to remember or still have record of it somewhere.. and TPF has been around a long time now ;)

At this point, we can use all the donations we can get, since we may need to purchase another server to support this board.

Just another shout out on this matter. All the donations that can be given will be appreciated! Like PufferPunk said we may need to switch servers and software to keep the board going.

Here's the link with the info! viewtopic.php?f=33&t=15171
