chewed through power head cords
So my stars and stripes has now chewed through two power head cords and Im wondering what my options are to stop this. I know there are the vortech but I feel this is a waste of money for a fish only system. Has anyone else had this problem? What was your solution? After that happened I have added my other return pump but my overflow is having a hard time keeping up.

I remember Kelly Jedlicki (Puffer Queen), mentioning something about this...

Re: chewed through power head cords
Also, If I were you, I'd dump that overflow & get a RR tank with an external pump. I use a SeaSwirl for flow.

Get a stronger pump & use a Seaswirl. How'd you like that article I dug up for you?

Re: chewed through power head cords
Yea that was good stuff. I like the idea of running cords through pvc piping. And at the moment I dont need a stronger pump. I have two that are running at either end of the tank and making lots of circulation. It more that the overflow is having a hard time draining it fast enough. It would be better if I could replace one of them with a good powerhead and make it internal circulation rather than everything going down to the sump.

The PVC Pipe idea is pretty ingenious.

Re: chewed through power head cords
I still highly suggest looking into a Seaswirl. Lost of good used ones out there. No powerheads needed with this.

Re: chewed through power head cords
getting water to the display and making flow wasnt my issue. it was getting it down to the pump... Id need to make it a closed loop and I cant drill any more holes in my tank.
