Tank size and other inhabitants?

In general, mixing puffers is high-risk IME.

Tobies - like all pufferfish - are territorial and will most likely attack each other. That, and a 40 is perhaps a bit too small for two tobies that can grow to be 4 inches long. I wouldn't do it.

Definitely a bad idea, the risk of fighting is very high. I would say your tank is fully stocked at best
It's amazing how easy maintenance is. If done regularly and thoroughly

Well this is my 1st tank and I thank you all for the support. I will keep the 40 gal and hopefully December I will upgrade. What is a good size for 2 Toby? :)

For me it would be two separate tanks.

I have kept the 2 species successfully together in a 50g. 55g would have been a better footprint though.
