Cave? what to use for...
So I want to get a puffer 'cave' and was looking for some ideas. I want something natural looking so no Sponge Bob underwater stuff.
This will be in a 40B with a small lurker. (I cant reveal the type just yet-waiting to do the big picture reveal)
I was just considering some stacked rock work or maybe a small piece of driftwood. What do you guys use or what ideas do you have?

I've made a Pig Cave from three bits of rock, Piggy seems very content with it.

I used the search feature but looked for 'cave' not 'house'.Pufferpunk wrote:viewtopic.php?f=56&t=33681

Re: Cave? what to use for...
I looked at all the 'decor' they had available at the local stores and decoded I have some Malaysian driftwood in another tank that I will pull and use in this one. I want a very natural look so real stuff it is. I will have to post some pics... probably when my puffer actually gets here, otherwise just a plain boring tank shot.

Thursday of this week I get the little monster. I have no name for it yet. I cant for the life of me come up with anything.Stratters wrote:When is he arriving, and have you decided on a name yet? I'm excited for another Hairy to be on here
I dont want to copy anybody so I will refrain from anything related to potato's even though thats what they look like. So no Spud, Tator (Tot or otherwise), Hash Brown, Potatoes Au gration, French fry, baked, fried, scalloped, mashed...
Help me name the little guy.....

I don't mind you using Spud at all, if you like the name. Daughter was keen on Hagrid, because of the unkempt look. I now have two baby pigeons in the utility room, called Hagrid and Hodor

Re: Cave? what to use for...
I have a bamboo cave lined with rock over the top to hold it down along with some live rock around it. I'm waiting to see how they react as they aren't moved into my larger aquarium yet.

Re: Cave? what to use for...
I created a couple of natural caves with my driftwood and my little guy prefers to just stay out in the open. Very happy mine is comfortable and does not hide.

Re: Cave? what to use for...
He'll hide and become more lurkerish as he gets older; I noticed a behaviour change in Pig when he reached about 3.5", he started to practice puffing (ludicrous), became more slothful, and started to spend more time 'hidden'. Sadly, for Pig, 'hidden' seems to involve lying under a plant, pretending to be a rock. He's not very convincing tbh.
