My name is Stratters, and I am suffering from MTS

Post by Stratters »

Bought another tank

LFS has managed to source 2 Hairy Puffers, they arrive on Tuesday, fingers crossed. Meanwhile, I had moved Olivia's (youngest daughter) Barbs into Spud's old tank to keep it ticking over.

Then I bought more fish...

A LOT more fish. After all, it's a 3ft tank with a heck of a filter on it. But then the LFS rang to say they had the HPs coming in Tuesday. And the tank was full. So I HAD to buy another one, yes?

MTS is pretty common around here, but I am doing a bit better, I am down to 14 tanks occupied at the moment...

Fourteen! Wow, what have you got in them?

We started at Christmas with a Bio Orb for Olivia. We have already multiplied to 2x3ft tanks.

I had to buy another one, for my new HP, right? And I'd already told Olivia she could fill the Spud tank with fish. I'm having an extension built on the house; I could fill that with tanks, too :D

MTS is a problem?

uhoh.

only problem I have run into is too much humidity in the house, gotta run dehumidifiers year round to keep it in check(considering an air exchanger), but it works so far. (26 tanks running between me and the wife, approx 1600 gallons)

I run the dehumidifiers in the winter. Best time for me, is when I can open the windows!

Stratters - I still breed Dwarf Neon Rainbowfish and some Cichlids. If I ever get the tank room re-built, I want to try my hand at some Tetras which are no longer common in the trade, or maybe Flagtail catfish..

I do like Cichlids, and Discus too. I think I probably prefer more unusual fish.

The little Hairies are in, went to see them today. They're quite small, about 2", but seem v active and are feeding already.

I've got a pair of cichlids with red, human lips.

I'm cosidering contacting an attorney to sue CraigsList for enabling my MTS. Anyone else want to join in for a class action lawsuit?

I can honestly say I'm a recovered addict but its a dangerous balancing act ;) At the moment, I have more tanks in storage than I have running. But the ones I have running are pretty big (29 is the smallest, then a 75, a 90, a 60) LOL

With life changes I actually only have one tank.

Once life stabilizes and we get closer to where we want to be we have plans for a few more tanks. Definitely want a peacock mantis shrimp tank, a discus tank (had one and it crashed due to accidental paint contamination in the water, that was an emotional and financial disaster), and a F8 (had one and lost her to a rogue heater, favourite fish ever). For now one is enough.
It is absurd to talk of one animal being higher than another. We consider those, when the cerebral structure/intellectual faculties most developed, as highest. A bee doubtless would when the instincts were.

I thought MTS was the default for puffer-lovers... I only have 8 or so tanks to get up and running ATM on the off chance there's a new species calling me!

IN Quebec, it's Moving Day when you can buy serious tanks and equiptment for not much outlay..
