Hairy/Congo Puffer for sale in the UK?

Post by Stratters »

I'm going to be brave, and get another puffer, as I'm really missing little Spuddy. I've put a couple of Barbs in the tank to keep it ticking over, but I'm having no luck sourcing either (preferably) a Hairy Puffer (Baileyi) or a Congo Puffer.

Anyone got any ideas? I'm based in Louth, Lincolnshire, which is East Midlands, UK.

Very rare find in this country, any shop who gets their stock from tmc might be able to order you one. Good luck
It's amazing how easy maintenance is. If done regularly and thoroughly

Ok, I've found a Hairy Puffer for £90, or an orange/red Congo for £35.

Decisions, decisions...

Tested the tank this morning, and all the tank parameters were as they should be, so the Barbs should keep it going until I get my new puffer. They are in 7th heaven in such a big tank, I will feel mean putting them back in their Bio Orb. :(

* Congo

I'm a bit concerned about one puffer I saw listed. They've used a stock pic of Arothron manilensis (the one Wiki have used) to illustrate it, but have it listed as a Tetraodon lineatus. I've emailed them, it can't be both; and one is FW, and the other is SW

He's a bit more orangey, but very beautiful. Another plus for the Congo is I can collect him myself. The Hairy would have to be couriered, which worries me, but it's at a reputable shop with a 5 day guarantee.

Arrrgh.

seems like a lot of money for the baileyi
in the US, Congo's are usually more expensive and rarer than the baileyi
pick-up, rather than shipping, is also a plus
i'd get the Congo because I like them so much, but............
here's an idea, get the Congo :hyper: , and with the money saved, get another tank :D

Hairys are rare over here, as far as I can tell. I'm so torn, but £90 is a heck of a lot of money for a fish; and I really don't like the idea of it being couriered.

Congo it is then :D

if i could find a red congo, I would buy him in a heartbeat, I would make room for another tank for it, haven't seen one locally in a lot of years.
