That is the most grotesquely obese puffer I think that I have ever seen. The poor fish is doomed to sort life. NIMFT, not ever!

Great advert, seen it on TV here in the UK

What's the betting odds of a thread appearing in the hospital section 'My Mbu is sick after tipping OJ in its tank'

Well I have heard of people putting vodka in their tank to reduce nitrAtes so maybe his sickness will just be a hangover from drinking too many screwdriver cocktails.

Alcohol was used as fuel for some tube denitrators, but I have never heard of pouring it into an open tank. Definitely NIMFT!

But then, I would not use OJ either.

Yes, lots of reef-keepers use vodka, vinegar, sugar & my favorite, vitamin C, to reduce nitrate/phosphate in their reef tanks, which require these to be as close to 0 as possible.

Not to derail this thread too much, but I've always wondered if the vodka really lowers nitrAtes or if it just fools the test kit to show a lower reading.

Lowers them & it is proven in the extra skimmate in your Protein skimmer.

Based off of this guide: http://www.melevsreef.com/vodka_dosing.html
This is only used on my 55g FOWLR tank.
Water where I am at (rural water supply) averages 40-60 ppm nitrate. (worst in the summer)
