Longest I kept one alive was a few months. They're filter feeders.

Adding a sponge filter pad at the very bottom basket to my canister filter today. But looks like I will order about 2 more for it because they are not very thick sponge filter pads.

Watched my sleeper goby destroy the small patch of black hair algae trying to grow on the substrate. Good boy!

Great idea. Could you be more specific with type of mesh. I have an over the back filter and an internal fluval. I also want to use mesh to keep plant chunks out of filter for a quick and easy removal of the collected debris. Any ideas?

Did a routine water change despite the dried out, chapped skin on my hands which just feels lovely in salt water. Now I'm just drinking a nice cold beverage waiting for the burning sensation to go away.

The Marineland C-530 is a monster of a canister with alot of filter room like 4 baskets that you can add just about anything to them. Even comes with all the media plus hollowed ceramic rings, bio-balls, bags of carbon, and filter pads. The 2 sponges and the biological media is a huge plus compare to the magnum series. I would buy a Marineland C530 in a heartbeat if it wasnt because of the money problems. That would be I would be doing for my tank today, buying a Marineland C-series canister.

Btw, I did buy one of those SUN SUN canister filters off of ebay and love it. Its set-up and love awhole lot like the marineland c series but half the price.
You were asking about that Jeboa one I bought off eBay a while back... It came in as a Sun Sun... I guess they are the same company or they shipped the worng one. But still, two months later and the filter is completely silent and runs great! My water is amazingly clear too! They are seriously a quality product that can be had for a steal.
