Re: IP treatment in the UK

The UK is the home of the most effective broad spectrum IP treatment you can get, Kusari Wormer Plus. It's flubendazole bases, very safe even in massive overdose, and kills as broad a spectrum of internal parasites as treatments with many ingredients. I import the stuff to the USA because I prefer i...

Re: Filters-especially sponges

Biowheels are wet/dry biological media, which produces a larger amount of nitrate than fully submerged biological filtration given the same amount of waste. I am not sure exactly why this is so, but it seems that the very high availability of oxygen makes the process faster but less efficient in som...

Re: What happened to you today :)

Firstly, I don't think you should get chantix from the pharmacy - the same drug is available for import online, for about 1/10 the price. My fianace used it at the same time as I did, and she has a history of depression, but chantix didn't seem to aggravate it. Shortly later, once the chantix left h...

Re: Takifugu Ocellatus

There is lots of experimentation with what will work for these guys. They seem to need a LOT more space than any other puffer their size, easily stress from tankmates, yet can be brutally aggressive, and while marine they frequently burrow. Work with them to date seems to indicate that they like jus...

Re: Moral Q regarding feral cat

What kind of entrance are you going with? Small but totally open is easiest for the a cat to learn on its own, but in the deep cold, even a simple rubber flap makes a big temperature difference.

Re: What happened to you today :)

I didn't notice much of any side effects from the chantix, other than it taking away the pleasure of smoking. I loved smoking. The taste, the feel of the smoke scorching my mouth and lungs, the relaxing and stimulating tingle that hits my brain in under 10 seconds from each drag... Chantix worked be...

Re: Water Partials

Very large aquariums located near seashores may have tanks of water from the ocean filtered and heated being continually added to their massive systems, while dirty water is constantly drained off. I am pretty positive I have seen sumped freshwater setup schematic where an adjustable drain is added ...

Re: emergency--too small a tank

Just use all the filter media from the 40 on the 60, and that should be more than enough bacteria to instantly cycle the 60 for the needs of two 2" fish.

Until the water is only filling the bottom half of the tank.

Re: Sigh I cant help it

Pool filter sand is larger grained and involves much less washing. The grains are also all similar in size.

While their is NO rule for what any given piece of wood will do, the closest thing to a guideline is that the denser and heavier the wood, the longer it will leech tannins for.

Re: texas cichlid attacking figure 8 puffer

Keeping predatory fish with differing water requirments and differing sizes together is always a big no no. Dunno if it will recover, a recently wild-collected puffer always contains a highly unpredictable level of toxin. It kills by paralyzing, slowing heartbeat and respiratory functions until cell...

Re: Antivirus

Having worked as a computer tech for many years, I haven't run any kind of antivirus or anti spyware in nearly ten years, and still haven't gotten infected. This is possible for two reasons: 1) I won't use internet explorer. Firefox I can trust not to run scripts or execute downloads without my appr...
