The line isn't on their tail, it's on their belly. There's a sexing article in our Library.

Re: F8 puffer not doing so good
Several things wrong here: 1) Adding Cycle is just like adding more fish waste--adding to your bioload. It's junk, don't use it. 2) Adding Amquel, removes ammonia needed for nitrifying bacteria to develop & live. 3) Putting a puffer in a comminuty tank, especially with angels. Puffers nip fins, ...

Re: new ten gallon F8 tank?
You are going to have problems with most plants in BW (search for a list of BW plants). Better substrate for them is aragonite sand.

Re: Where does your puffer sleep?
He seems to hide in the cave at night but sleeps on a leather during the day.
He had a run in with the tube anemone. One of his eyes is pretty cloudy.

Re: thinking about a traodon miurus (congo)
You'd be wasting a 60g with this fish (it's Tetraodon, BTW). They spend most of their life burried up to their eyeballs in the sand & only come out to eqat. I keep one in a 15g. 20L would be best. It took me 4 years to find an affordable, bright red one, like in my avatar.

If I were you. I'd look into a 125g upgrade instead. Those barbs liken the longer tanks, more than wide.

Re: Where does your puffer sleep?
Both my sharp-nosed tobies sleep in the corners of the glass, 1/2 way up the tank. I have no idea how they stick there!

With him being in an uncycled tank you need to test daily. Get yourself a Master Test Kit & test, test, test!

Re: New Fahaka puffer!
What has he been eating so far? You don't want the cray to be doing damage to the puffer. I'd say a cray 1/2 his size would be OK.
So what are your water parameters? And please don't say "fine".

Re: figure 8's and green spotted puffer's
Eventually you will need that 100g for the 3 GSPs & then you can figure out what you want to do with the F8s. 2 fake plants aren't nearly enough decor to give everyone territories & reduce squabbling. Look at my tanks in the sig below for ideas of how much decor is necessary to keep these fi...

They are all in what size tank? Is there plenty of decor to break up their lines of sight?

Re: New Fahaka puffer!
I would return the puffer until you have a properly cycled tank. Please do more research on your purchases, housing, cycling before you buy them!

Re: New Fahaka puffer!
I'd keep a really close eye on the parameters of that tank then. It's probably not cycled at all.
