Though the need a bigger tank and obviously look differently, porcupine puffers don't have any dental problems, they have crushing plates instead of "teeth".
I would tend to agree though, fed a proper diet, dogface puffers shouldn't have dental issues.

No matter what you do, quarantine the new fish so they don't bring in diseases and kill your existing fish!

Or maybe the silicone wasn't fully cured before you put it in the tank. If you could still SMELL it, it was still curing and releasing fumes.
Yes, take it out and do a couple big water changes, see if he feels better. Maybe run some fresh carbon if you have it.

Re: HELP!! What products/setup to get for 1 Dwarf Puffer?!?!
I *think* he's saying that the dorm room limits are no more than 5 gallon tanks but he's thinking he can get away with a 7 gallon. (or she, if you're not a guy, sorry!) Well, there are some nice little setups out there but if you want a cute, all contained, live plant "growable" tank, you'...

Re: how to water changes w/o p/o puffer
Not a whole lot you can do, either the fish will learn to stay out of the way or it won't. It will stress it out more to catch it, that's for sure! Paris, my big burrfish, has a habit of sitting right under where I'm pouring the new water in, and she gets all mad and spits it back out at me! Well.. ...

Re: new to live plants
Agreed. You could try some easy crypt species, java moss or fern or anubias species.. but if your tank is 18" tall or higher, its really hard to get light down to the substrate. The 100w light might work, depending on how it is set up. If its one bulb it might put out a ton of heat, and you'll ...

Re: GSP tank mates.
In 30 gallons, you really won't have room for tankmates. Puffers are really messy fish that get their water quite dirty, fast, so we look at both size, aggression and waste output when recommending minimum tank sizes. A GSP needs 30 gallons just for itself, when it is an adult. I'm sure it looks tin...

Re: BLOAT IS HERE
footprint size it would work, but you'd probably want more water volume in the long run (you could hook it up with a sump), that or expect to do more water changes, more frequently, as he gets bigger. The footprint is very nice though. I've looked at a 110 that was similar, just a little taller and ...

Oh good lord, how could anyone forget Pufferoni and that crazy avatar. Okay, do you still have your log in info for the old account? Because if you do, I can just change the name on that old account to this new name and this new account can be deleted. Or you can start over from scratch with this ac...

Re: I got myself A DP TODAY!!!
That was very nice of the store to make that trade for you! Dwarf puffers can really be very picky. If you have a local, convenient source of live black worms its not a big deal, but they can be hard to find and are really hard to breed yourself. That's why I like to tell people to get their tanks s...

Re: Young Ceylon on Marine
I haven't kept them myself, but I think many people have kept them in full marine no problem. I'd say go ahead and try it... will they be going into a different tank? If you can keep the brackish tank setup for a bit just in case he doesn't like it, then do that if you can, but my guess is he will b...

Re: can i feed my dp food from publix?
Well, personally I don't think you'll have much luck but you can try. Just about any human seafood is safe, as long as it is RAW and not seasoned. Freeze it if it is fresh, to kill any nasties, then thaw it out in a little bowl of tank water and see if they'll eat it. Depending on what it is, you ca...
