Re: 40 Gal Breeder Tank Stand

The last tank I bought at that was my 45, but that was years ago, surprised they are still doing it. I suppose they figure they'll make it up on the accessories and stands.

Re: Wanted: Pics of tanks with moonlights!!

Check out the voltage on the adapter. Chances are you can find another one that will work just fine, and with how efficient LEDs are, you don't have to worry about it being too much draw for the adapter no matter how low it is.

Re: Freezing snails?

How is the tinned escargot? I haven't had the wallet space to try them. The only snail I can afford these days is tinned scungilli, but it's quite rubbery. I hadn't known they only call land snails escargot, in the US they seem to call any eating snail that no matter what the size or where it came f...

Re: FLEAS!!!!!

Fleas that feed on animals may bite us as well, but they can't complete their lifecycle without a proper host. So all the fleas not on your pet will either die of starvation childless, or jump on the animal and feed, killing themselves, or try to live on humans, which doesn't work. So either way eve...

Re: 40 Gal Breeder Tank Stand

It's cheap, strong, easy to put a sump under, and I just toss a table cloth that goes well with the room over it before the tank, and it's ready to go.

Wood isn't weak in this application - breaking wood by crushing it with pressure is nearly impossible.

Re: 40 Gal Breeder Tank Stand

40 breeders use the standard 36"x18" welded angle iron stand, almost any store can get you one. Wooden stands are MUCH more expensive, but also available. It's the same stand whether you have a 30 breeder, 40 breeder, 50, or 65 gallon tank.

Re: My new SAP has ich

Higher temperature speeds up the life cycle, making the spots fall off faster. The salt in the water shrivels up the mono-cellular free-swimming ich parasites. The other puffers probably have at least a couple spots - if a fish is quite strong, it's body may be able to repulse the parasites, and the...

Re: Freezing snails?

I think you'll find salt water snails freeze much better - I bought a batch of escargots in chinatown once, and eventually froze them because they were all dying from cracks or other shell damage. These were about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch.

Re: Dwarf puffer problem

When DPs keep spawning over a period, giving you fry of several sizes, it's usually necessary to separate the sizes into blocks to keep them from eating each other. Once they hit a certain size they stop the cannibalism part, but may still fight. They seem to be much more social when startled, often...

Re: Help, my puffer seems to be blind....

Try feeding him with the tank light off, but a bright enough light in the room for you and him to see. He could be blinded by the light - became sensitive to it for no reason, or it was switched for a more powerful light, etc, and now with the lights on, the puffer can only see light and shadows. He...

Re: Hello puffer lovers!

I think somewhere their exists instruction for changing the included UGF to a reverse flow, and if their are not, it shouldn't be hard to figure out What I'd probably do is pile some larger substrate (crushed coral?) over and around the now RFUG, then use the minimum amount of sand to keep the botto...
