Re: Weird f8 puffer behaviour

yes / no. Similar but "spores" doesn't come to mind. It was under a different name, but now that you mention it; DGabbs are the fern roots firmly in the gravel / substrate? If they are, they shouldn't be. You can weigh them down but don't bury them. AFAIK java fern propigaes 3 ways: rhizom...

Re: Weird f8 puffer behaviour

ditto PPP, but see those black spots on the fern? That leaf will eventually detach and those sposts will grow roots. The puffers may think they are snails :) Sorry I forgot what the spots are actually called.

Re: Water temp reached 98F

On smaller tanks I don't clip it directly to the tank but use a end book stand. For the larger tanks I don't worry about it too much but one of those upright fans with the exte...

Re: Zebra Mussels

no worries on the sharp edges. Again freezing... I am of mixed emotions on that topic. I know that some inverts can survive the freezing process. We're talking about deep freezing and they still live. At the moment we don't have a list that will survive, but I do know of some larger inverts that can...

I'm not worried about parasites as i would QT for months, or freeze them, but what about the sharp edges? The lakes in my area are reasonably clean...

Re: Building up my first FW tank

just a quick brush in water should be good to get debris off. Then you can add a touch of dechlor to the tank if you want.

Re: Building up my first FW tank

but if one is not prepping the wood properly, one will not get the desired results. For myself I boil it, drain it, boil it again, and keep doing that until I can see the bottom of the pot. Some will also bake it and boil it. Tannis isn't that bad. It is unsightly but it can be very beneficial. The ...
