Yea we moved also .. only have 2 tanks now. 2X65 gal SW sitting empty and 10+ tanks sitting in the basement. Downsizing sucks and the utility costs are HUGE. Thus, out of the hobby (for now).

It can be done, but it is not for the faint of heart or the new. 90% of the tank should be considered breeding territory for the species in question 10% for the puffer. Thus, if you have a puffer that requires 30 gallons, you are looking at a tank that is about 300 gals. That may sound daunting, but...

not keeping tanks anymore. Gaming. I only have 1 cray tank now. Since the move and new job I'm kinda out of the hobby. I still have my 1 DP though. Haven't fed it on over a year. He just eats the shrimp babies and the cray fry. lol

shrimp shells are no good. Too soft.
would you consider a 5 gal breeding tank got ramshorns or pond snails?
crayfish are also a good choice, but on the large side for GSPs

the plecos will be fine for a while but will outgrow that tank.

bacteria does double and continue to grow as long as it had the food to supply it. So you are correct. It is self regulating.
