Re: Colomesus Asellus and Tiger Barbs in a 30gal?
Been a long time since I kept Tiger Barbs and it wasnt a pleasant experience, I always got one dominant one in a goup that would harrass the rest and then start nipping the other fishes fins. For an already skittish puffer like the SAP I think it would be a bad idea.

Re: Fluval M-series heaters, good or bad?
When I was looking at new heaters at the end of last year I considered them after using the Fluval Tronic series for a long time. I had several of them and most of them misted up inside the glass over time but never malfunctioned on the thermostat side in the years of service I had them in the tanks...

Re: Help with ID
I agree with the other posters these look like Monotrete Palambangensis. I've never heard them called Popeye puffers usually King Kong, Dragon or Humpback.

Re: Monotrete Leiurus
Im not sure that is a Turgidus. The snout looks a little long and that eyespot is very prominent. This might be a wait and see if this is a small specimen. It just looks a little wrong for a definitive ID at this stage.

Re: Brackish difficulty
Brackish costs only come into play in high SG bands. F8's and bumbleebee gobies at a salinity of 1.005-1.008 will not be a problem in terms of cost. COst starts to ramp up in brackish when you head into the higher ranges which is why people prefer to go marine for GSP's as they can live quite happil...

Re: Suggestions on FW Puffer
Abei's are nice looking, get to a decent size but would do nicely in a 30 gallon, they can be quite active but will also lurk. Mine didnt like a lot of open space and preferred lots of decor to swim in and out of and lurk under. Can be a bit picky with food. Never could get him to eat cockel but mus...

Re: GSP Chomper is he yawning ?
My Fahaka does this and some previous puffers i've had did it as well. Generally it happens if im a bit too close and in his face (ie face real close to the tank). I always saw it as posturing baring the teeth to show get away or I will use them.

Re: my new mekong puffer!
That is either Monotrete Cochinchinensis or Monotrete Turgidus, impossible to tell from the pics, from the coloration I would say more Turgidus. A lot of puffers are called Mekong puffers as thats where they are caught. They also have a kind of arrow shaped marking on their head but are very differe...

Re: hi i'm new
[welcome] You have 47 US Gallons to play with so it all depends on what you can get hold of. Group of Dwarf Puffers Some of the lurkers like Monotrete Baileyi, Suvattii or Palambangensis. If you can go low end brackish 3 F8's. Or a single Fluviatilis or GSP if you want to head into the realm of full...

Re: Nala not eating (fahaka puffer)
Try dropping the temp down to around 75. Leave for a few days and then try again. I noticed an increase in appetite when I dropped the temp. Worth a try.
