Re: Never seen a Chelonodon pleurospilus before
OMG, that has to be the coolest Puffer I've seen in a while. The variations of colors are absolutely amazing too. How big do these guys tend to get? I know it was said that not many have been kept in aquariums so not much information is known most likely. I think I am on a mission to find own one of...

Re: GSP with sunken belly, all the time..
Yeah it sounds to be as if your tank is not cycled. Can you post your water parameters please? Give us a reading on ammonia, nitrite and nitrate. I'm willing to bet you're showing levels of ammonia and/or nitrite. How often do you do water changes? Sevenyearnight is absolutely right, you should NEVER...

Re: DP acting strange
Yeah I'm going to setup my 10 gallon spare tank and put her in it. I'm going to take some media from one of my canister filters and put it in a HOB for her. I will start with aquarium salt and raising the temp. I also have some Levamisole powder that I purchased online from some Dr. that a member he...

Re: f8 puffer with bulging eyes
Wow, that is pretty bad. Poor little fella. +1 for using the Maracyn and Maracyn2... I would make that top priority. I'm sorry if you have already posted your water parameters but I do not think I've seen them. If you have not can you PLEASE post your ammonia, nitrite and nitrate readings? Good water...

Re: DP acting strange
No, I did not suspect IPs since he looks absolutely fine. I give all my Puffers IP meds no matter what when I first get them. Where did I say that I suspected IPs? DP was in my buddies tank for a long time which is healthy but he has to take it down since his landlord did not like him having one on ...

DP acting strange
I have a 29 gallon tank that had 5 DPs in it (4 females and 1 male). About 3 days ago I rescued a female DP from someone. She does not look to be in bad health from what I can see, she has the normal round shape that female DP's have. I acclimated her to her new home (the 29 gallon with the 4 other ...

that's the best of both worlds right there. AquaClears and an Eheim on the same tank. Can't go wrong with that.

Re: Green spotted puffer all black?
Bottom line is that you NEED to be able to know what SG your tank is at. You just throwing random amounts of salt in the tank is an awful idea. You also need a liquid test kit for ammonia. You could be throwing too much salt in there which will kill all your good bacteria causing a cycle and high am...

Then you either have plants taking up all the nitrates or you're not cycled. You should be showing nitrates, even if it's only a little.Mr puffington wrote:Even now with the 30gal im at perfect waer peramiters and 0 nitrates at my weekly water change.

Re: aragonite sand in my brackish setup
Okay cool I figured I would be okay since the filters have a good amount of BB in them. I don't think I've killed of any BB in the filters. Usually for maintenance I'll rinse squeeze out the sponge in a big bowl of tank water and I'll put the ceramic rings in the water also and kind of swoosh them a...

aragonite sand in my brackish setup
Okay here's the deal, I've got a 25 gallon brackish tank at a sg of 1.005. The tank has been setup with aragonite sand for about 2 years now. I've always had the same substrate in this tank since I converted it to brackish. The thing is I'm really starting to HATE the look of the current aragonite s...

Re: Say Hello to this Fahaka
While AquaClears are the best HOB filters you can buy (in my opinion) I would WITHOUT a doubt get a canister filter for this setup. Congrats on the Fahaka by the way! I've been looking for one locally for a year now with no luck at all.

Re: URGENT NEED HELP: 2 dead tankmates within the month!
I have never understood why people insist on having a community of other fish with Puffers knowing that it'll most likely go bad. Bottom line is that the majority of Puffers need to be in a species only tank and even a singleton at that. If this is not something you like then maybe owning a Puffer i...

Heh, I would not say it's 100% disease free especially since it's coming from an LFS. Just my opinion but I've always been sketchy about things like that.

29 Gallon Dwarf Puffer Tank Aquascaping Ideas
Hey everyone, I have a 29 gallon tank with 4 DP's living in it. I have had the tank setup the same way for a long time now and I am thinking that it is time for a change. I currently just have some driftwood with fake plants and some Java Fern in there. I would like to stick to the natural look with...
