Re: Experienced fish-keeper worst nightmare.
I once had my spray bar somehow pointed upwards in the midnight... Effectively displacing about 1/3 of my tank water.. It didn't help when my floor is parquet and furniture made of chipboard... Half my room was destroyed..

Re: Preparing for a fahaka
+1 to pp. Dun think u need a sump, I would think have a veggie filter may be more work for u. U need nutrients to support the plants. Having just a fahaka there may not provide sufficient waste for it. So in the end u may need to dose in additional stuff for the veggie to work.. For large-ish puffer...

Exactly.. I can't understand either. They eat all sorts of weird things there. Probably just for the kick of it.. A prepared fugu can cost upward of hundreds...

Re: Digesting shells
Well.. My ex Mbu had got large shards stuck halfway at the an*s many times when it's pooping it out.. It normally pass thru the guts ok. But coming out at the exit point would sometimes be a little more tricky..

Re: Digesting shells
I dun think they can break down/digest the shells but they will poop them out. So it's normal and nothing to worry about. It's amazing how they can process the shards through their guts... Mine used to gobble down chunks of them.

Re: Do GSP's usually reach 6 inches?
The ones I see in my stores are distinctly different. Most of the time are those that have bigger and rounder spots. Sometimes they have a mix of your kind. More of a "camo" prints. At around 2inches.

Re: Do GSP's usually reach 6 inches?
I had always felt that there are 2 variants of gsp.. The one that pp have tends to grow larger. The other type where they have bigger and rounder spots tends to not grow beyond 4". At least I have not seen one, yet..

Re: Dwarf Puffers & Bamboo Shrimp?
The ghost Shrimps will be competing will your dp for snails and they are much better hunters than dp. They are also aggressive and will snatch food. Bamboo are too timid and slow. Dps will probably nip at them constantly.

If the keeper really care for the fish, he/she would declaw a crab of this size before feeding. Sorry if I sound harsh, this is plain stupid.

Re: rescued a Palembang puffer!
I one I had some time ago refuse to eat silverside no matter what. Mine mainly ate market prawn. Poor thing.. He's in really bad condition. Maybe can try those cheaper guppies, not the feeder type. QT them for a few days.

Ya. I reference it with the pics in the Puffer library. It should be a narrow lined puffer. Pity the little guy.
