Re: Petsolutions.com

I have placed quite a few orders of saltwater fish through them and never had a negative experience. I have never received an unhealthy fish from them either. I get all my salt from them too, a lot of times their reef crystal salt goes on sale and they ship free over $50 even on heavy salt.

Re: Would a Canthigaster papua/Papuan Toby be ok with a GSP?

I am sure the majority will say no, but I would say it probably depends on the temperament of both puffers. If you try it I would definitely have a back up plan ready if things go bad.

Re: Bio Wheels

Also they create a lot of splashing which, with saltwater, will cause a ton of salt creep.

Re: IM BAAACCCKKKK!!!

I have my GSPs with a pair of percula clowns and a starry blenny. Mine are very passive though.....I have never seen them try to attack any fish which often times isn't the case. Just a thought, if you are interested in other types of puffers a 50 gallon is sounds like a perfect size for a blue spot...

Re: I'm getting a Peacock Mantis :D

From what I have learned they should be kept in only a dimly lit tank like actinic lighting only. This will make for a much healthier and active mantis shrimp.

Re: Dog Face Puffers

I am guessing that no one on here has done that here. Maybe they have though. I don't think it is very advisable to do so though since one will just end up killing the other. Also you would have to have a pretty big tank to pull it off. A 180 gallon would be about the smallest you could go.

Re: Anoney ID these please

I don't see anything in the first picture, but the bottom two are common zoanthids or palys. Some puffers eat them some leave them alone. I guess you will find out.

Re: vitamin water soaking??

yeah you can but even though it probably won't hurt, it probably won't do a ton of good to soak their food in vitamin water. Most around here prefer to enhance their food by soaking the food in vitachem. You can buy it off ebay and it last a long time if you dilute it down in water and soak the food.

Re: showing off my sun coral

They are not hard too hard to keep, just like most everything else, as long as you keep your water parameters where they should be it will do fine. Like PP said they are non-photosynthetic so they require no light. They get all of their nutrients from spot feedings, so you have to do it often. I fee...

Re: salt measurement

It depends on the brand of salt, but usually it is 1/2 cup to every gallon of water. I am sure the label tells you the mixing directions. Also you need a refractometer or a hydrometer if you plan on mixing up any saltwater, then you will know for sure.

Re: Setting up sw please help

I don't really know about the lava rock you are talking about.....I have always just got my rock from local reefers who are tearing down their systems. You usually get a pretty good deal on it and the rock is already cured. As for keeping your tank nice and clean. The best advice would be to not ove...

Re: WHOLE SW SYSTEM JUST CRASHED!!!!

I would move the corals you have to your GSP tank. If you are worried about them nipping the corals just get a few plasic containers (plastic soda bottles work) and punch a bunch of small holes in them. That should work to protect your corals until you get your other tank back on track. Just a sugge...

Re: How many of TPF members have bought from an online source?

100% of the livestock in my reef tank has been purchased online. Fish, corals, and rock. I have never had a fish or coral be dead on arrival or die within a month after shipment. I usually order from bluezooaquatics.com since they have always had excellent customer service and the healthiest livesto...
