Re: Dwarf puffing

Thanks for the concern J-P. Everything is fine, I've been lurking but haven't been posting much. School and family have taken center right now but I'm in the process of setting up a new tank and hopefully getting my parents to agree in letting me set up our old thirty gallon. So expect puffer pictur...

Of course I'm going to put in substrate, water, plants and all that fun stuff. The dwarf I had sadly died a couple months ago.

What to put in it?

My boyfriend, the sweetheart, got me a ten gallon tank for my birthday. Not a big tank but biggest I can have. Question now is what should I put in it?

Re: Algae problem

The current was crap, that I know for sure, the filter that was on that tank was dying but was replaced saturday evening. With the new filter the current has picked up a bit, the best way I can think to describe it is like a slight breeze in the tank. The plants sway just a little but are otherwise ...

Re: Algae problem

We do not have a phosphate test kit and haven't done a blackout but were planning to if that's the best option. I'm sorry but I don't know what the lighting is but its on for maybe eight hours a day, I'm not entirely sure as the tank is at my boyfriends house not mine.

Re: What did you do with your tank today

Water change on boyfriends puffer tank, added an Otto to boyfriends Betta tank, and bought a filter for my new ten gallon.

Re: Algae problem

We've been scooping it out as much as possible and it doesn't seem to be doing any good. The tank gets a siphoned almost everyday to remove any waste and left over food at that time we also stir up the sand a bit. We asked a guy at out lfs who told us the name of a algaecide but if possible I'd rath...

Algae problem

20 gallon tank with a single striped red eye puffer. She is fed half a cube of bloodworms every other day, last water change was two weeks ago, 10ppm nitrate, 0.50ppm ammonia, Ph of 7.6. Our problem seems to be algae, it looks like it could be blue-green algae but we aren't sure. It first appeared _...

Re: A Sad Day

I'm sorry to hear you had to give up such a lovely guy but at least you can visit him. I know what you mean about losing your puffer zest so to speak. With the loss of my one and only puffer fish I had a hard time even logging on, but things got better and now that I'm getting more money underfoot I...

Re: Two fish?

For pink fish your best bet would be a single betta or maybe a few guppies, the glofish though i think they are genetically altered are pretty cool looking and come in bright pink.

Re: What do you get when...

Sounds like me when I get a place of my own. My mother is always teasing me by saying that she feels sorry for whoever I marry because they'll end up in a zoo. Her favorite is to mimic what she thinks I'd say. "Oh honey there was a lost dog on my way home, can we keep him?" "Sweethear...

Re: I'm back and looking to start again

We were thinking a congo would be a good choice because of the tank being so tall it would give him a chance to really burry himself in the sand but we've fallen for the little guy at the pet store but dont want to get him if he wouldnt be happy with us.
